Listen Up!

"The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to him! - Deuteronomy 18:15

Listening is so important in life and crucial to make relationships work. We all have built into us the need and want to be listened to. Being listened to communicates things like worth, value, love, and respect. How do you feel when you are pouring your heart out to a parent or a friend and then find out that they weren’t listening to you? You feel hurt, upset, and not cared about. Listening is so important and yet we live in a day and age where there are so many distractions to listening that it makes it more and more difficult to do.

As we continue to talk about the importance of CALL upon our life; as we jump deeper and deeper into a relationship with Christ, a huge component that we constantly forget is the importance of listening to God, who calls us to Him each and every day.

You and I are being called by a God who has power over life and death. We are being wooed by a God who came to earth as a baby, that He might better understand our faults and our sins. We are being loved by a God who was willing to reach out and touch the lame, the blind, the leper -- willing to break bread with sinful men AND women -- willing to even take the time to pause in his teaching to save a man possessed with a demon.

Are you an ordinary woman in whom God wants to do extraordinary things? God desires this for every child of His. This week, take time to listen to the Lord. Slow down and rededicate yourself to trust in Him to accomplish great things in and through our life.

I encourage each of you to ponder the question: “What is God’s call for my life?”

This is a basic question most believers seek an answer. We each need to be prayerfully seeking God and asking Him to help us to discern His special plan and calling for us. Then, prayerfully ask God to give us the faith and courage we need to follow His call wherever He leads.

Are you listening? Jesus, the Prophet, is knocking on the door of your heart. Jesus the Savior is speaking to you in many ways. Do you hear him? Are you listening?

Are you listening?

Prayer:
Lord God, help me to tune out the chaos of this world, that this week I might truly listen for Your call upon my life. Open my ears to hear Your voice. Amen.
