Gifts and Contributions to the Church
We have many items that add to the beauty of our present Church that have been given in memory of loved ones, past members and friends.
  • The Cross and candelabra on the altar were brought to this church from the former Richland Avenue Church. They were purchased from general funds.
  • The lecturn from our former church is now in the Adult class room.
  • The present lecturn in our santuary was given to this church by Rev. Bernard and Mrs. Opal Secoy Baughn in memory of his father, J. Herman Baughn, who was also a former pastor.
  • The beautful light that hangs from the ceiling in the center of the altar (Symbol of Eternal light) was given by Roger and Eloise Randolph, former members of our church.
  • A kneeling bench, which has held many a bended knee during a wedding ceremony, was given by the Secoy family in memory of their mother, Anna Secoy.
  • Perhaps in some of these same wedding ceremonies, candles would glow from lovely wooden candelabra which were made by Lew Martin, and, before his death, he and his wife, Forrest, gave them to the former Richland Church.
  • Clea and Arthur Brooks gave the flags and staffs which now adorn both sides of our altar. These were moved from the former Richland Church. They were given in memory of Arthur's mother, Mrs. Jiles Brooks.
  • When Lorna Nisley passed away, the family of Richard Nisley that, in leiu of flowers, money would be donated to a fund to purchase an organ for this church. Enough money was received to make that purchase.
  • The baptisimal font in front of the altar was given by Lyle and Adeline Munn in memory of their son, Gary. This also was transported to the new church.
  • A picture of the Last Supper was given by Clarence and Iris Warner in memory of their son, Milford.
  • Many of the hymn books and Bibles in our pews were donated by friends of the Church. You will find most of them have the names inside the front covers.
  • In our narthex, is a table that was brought from the former Richland Church. It was given in memory of Chloe Baker, wife of J.R. Baker. He was a former superintendent of the Richland Avenue Sunday School.
  • On either side of the table are chairs which once occupied a place on the altar of the former church. They have since been restored by Larry and Diane Tong.
  • In a room off the narthex is a library. This was started in memory of Susan Roach.
  • A gateleg table, for which we have found many uses, was given by Mrs. Anna Secoy, now deceased. It was refinished by Cleo Brooks and brought to the church.
  • If we step outside and look at the top of the hill above the church, you will see what appears to be a gazebo. Formerly, it was the steeple of the Richland Church. When the former church was sold to Don Collins, he offered to sell the steeple to Cleo and Arthur Brooks. They purchased it and moved it to their home on Hooper Street. Later, they gave it to our present church. A new paint and shingle job was completed by a Boy Scout Troop.
  • Many contributions have been made by members and friends toward refurbishing and beautifying our church.
  • These gifts have made it possible to have an edifice for worship and communion, all for the GLORY OF GOD.
